"Standby for connecting to mobile network"

Got this thing yesterday and after finally getting it activated went to the Android Market to play with some apps. Went through the Google account setup..."Your phone is communicating with Google"..... then I get a "You dont have a network connection" This could be a temp prob OR your sim card may not be provisioned for data services"

I have a "Standby for connecting to mobile network" under the Mobile Network tab in phone settings.

From what I've read, people are suggesting a "hard reset" for this issue 😢

Any ideas/suggestions?

edit: It needed to be "reset" after activation ie; off-battery pull-reboot
