Star A5000 memory card problem

Anyone had an A5000 that will not boot with a memory card fitted?
Tried a few micro SD cards of different sizes and when switched on I just get the green android man in the lower left corner. Nothing then happens. I have to take the battery out remove the card and then switch on again. The phone will then start as normal.

Are these cards formatted Fat32? If they are a different file system, they may cause problems.

Yes formatted Fat32. I have tried other formatting (Fat16, NTFS, ext3 etc) and also raw cards but to no avail.

I am not sure that I will ever see my money back from this ebay seller, so I have started an ebay dispute. If I do get my money back, should I go for the same phone from another seller? I would have liked this phone with built in GPS and a reasonable screen, but have also looked at the Star A2000 rather than the Star A5000. Is one better than the other? I know that the 2000 has a bigger screen.

Sorry, should have explained that they are both cheap Chinese Android phones, the only ones that I can afford.
