start up logo screen

Hi guys,

Brought my first Samsung s3 product the other day, :)

Quick question,

Why do many Samsung s3s have a different start up screen? when brought as unlocked?, for example i brought mine offline and unlocked, however its starts up showing the t-mobile logo?? and another friend of mine also brought the s3 unlocked from a different store and his dose not have any carrier logo only the Samsung logo.

Could anyone explain to me what this means? and should i take this back to the store i brought it from?

thanks

Welcome to the forums droid699 :)

Glad to have you here! and lets see if i can't help you out with that issue.

Basically for every type of Android ICS there is a different launch screen, because every carrier has modified the Android system to their specifications, whether they changed the Launcher, or just added apps, they will add in something that shows that the phone is there's, its like free advertisement when the phone boots up.

The way to change this is by unlocking your phone and putting your own ROM on it. This ROM will change the start up screen logo to whatever that ROM wants it to be.

With the standard start up on a Verizon S3, it will probably show the Google Symbol, some colors going crazy, then possibly a Verizon logo thing.

It's different with every type of S3, it just depends on who's yours with. If you are not with T-Mobile then you might want to go back to the store and get another haha, because that would be rather annoying to me.

Anyhow, i hope this helps, if not feel free to respond back :)

thanks for the quick reply :)

As i already have a running contact with another provider not t - mobile, i brought the s3 unlocked and sim free as i already has my own sim card. the annoying thing for me is, that i paid for a sim free device and its branded by t-mobile.

not sure if its worth taking back to store as long as all the other features are the same and im not limited i think i will just put my own Rom on it.

Just to confirm the branding dose not affect anything else on the phone functions wise?

thanks for your help.

Nothing else should be affected by the phone previously being attached to T-Mobile, other than maybe some bloatware apps, but since your phone is unlocked you could just delete those.

I would suggest putting your own ROM on it.

Here is the forum dedicated to your device: Samsung Galaxy S3 - Android Forums

There will definitely be some helpful information regarding ROMs in there!
