Then you need to find the startup sound file in root explorer and change the name, just delete the last letter or something. I just had a look for it as I was writing this and I can't find it so maybe you can't. Although revolution rom comes with a mod to turn it off.

Open up root explorer, navigate to the folder of the file I said above, and rename it

i did this but it told me i couldnt rename file only view

You have mounted /system as read only. You need to mount it as rw (read/write)

ok i renamed it
came out turned phone off and on
and it still does it

Reboot again and see if its worked. It takes a reboot for changes to take affect.

It works for me in my S2.

I had the power on in that place and the power off in the system/media folder.
