Help Starting Fresh... need some help.

I am going to be starting fresh with my Rooted Evo.. currently running cm7 nightly 31 but im having a bunch of bugs and issues and i want a new splash screen and boot animation and i just wanna wipe everything and start over new. im going to be flashing in kings ROM.

i want to start with just the stock HTC Sense ROM and make a nand of that so i have it for updates and what not

i also want to format my sd card and wipe and start fresh with that as well, what am i risking by formatting my sd card?

i will be backing up my entire sd card onto my laptop so i can grab my pictures and things like that, but as far as the phone itself, is formatting it an option?
