Root Starting over: yes or no?

Papamalo

Android Enthusiast
I have enjoyed my esteem with a few bumps for a while now, but wonder if I can get better performance, (faster, less lag times, more functionality) by going the next step.
I have the following specs:

LG Esteem
downgraded fiormware to ZVB in order to facilitate CWM and Plague kernel
And the following apps.
Alarm clock Xtreme
CPU Master (to control the kernel)
Calender
Anycut (switches 3g CDMA to 4G when I am having trouble getting signal
youtube
whatsapp (I installed trying to be able to send pics. hasn't worked)
Facebook
Voice search (recently spotty)
Voice recorder
Camera
Maxthon browser (still undecided about this)
Local
Navigation
Play Store
Winamp
SMS backup (refuses to sign into my google account)
Busybox free (used in installing CWM(
Memowidget
App Cache cleaner
Astro file manager
Evernote
Skitch
FLV player
Watchdog lite (an experiment to see what was giving me trouble)
touchpal keyboard (my swipe started just not working, so like a dummy I erased it. now I can't find a way to get it back without paying)
Lookout mobile security
ROM toolbox
wallpaper wizardry
2X bettery
Titanium backup
Root Explorer
Es file explorer (the reason for multi file explorers was that some of them see files that others don't)
Superuser
Boot animation installer
Adobe Flash Player 11.1
Android live wallpapers
Voice dialer
Twitter
Talk
Video Player
memo
Latitude
Gmail
Messaging (still can't send pics or MMS messages)
Rings extended
Contacts (still can't get anything but than the tiny icon photos for contacts)
Goggles
LG keyboard
Quickboot
Social+
TTS service

There are some I really like, but now I want to see how much I can strip this down, and speed it up.

Should go for the latest ROM?

Thanks!

Well you can flash #2 2.0 and install the apps that you do like. Swype doesn't cost money at all.

That's a pretty extensive list. A lot of junk if you ask me. Take a lot of that stuff off & you would be surprised how much faster & smoother it'll run.

Upgrade to zvd and install number #2 and the kernel of your choice, and you are all set.

You should actually try a debloated ROM, I use the stock by ldrifta. Honestly, I don't like the #2 ROMs. They feel clunky and it made my phone reboot numerous times.

it's not neccesarily the rom only that gives you speed.. you can take any of the roms and tweak it in such a way that it'll be better in some ways but possibly worse in others.. with #2 i just found a happy medium.. but if you removed battery tweaks and altered some performance tweaks im sure you'll find it noticably faster in every aspect, but your battery is gonna leak like there a hole in it lol
