starting rsd protocol support

my Verizon mobile droid 2 has some issues.first my back button didn't work so I tried turning it off removing battery then turning it back on.now it is frozen at a screen that says STARTING RSD PROTOCOL SUPPORT.i have tried removing the battery few more times and when it comes back on that's what it says.HELP!! WHAT IS THIS AND HOW DO I FIX IT?
 
That sounds like a button is stuck or something and it is booting into a maintenance mode of some kind. Possibly a hardware error.:(
