Help Starting to hate this phone...

I want only the bare minimum applications required to run the phone. I don't mind load times on apps I want to use at will. I want apps I use to close automatically when I hit the home screen. This "store some info in memory for quick loading" really kills the phone, in a bad way.

The other thing which really annoys me, and I mean to the point where I threw the phone somewhere in my yard and took 3 days to go look for it (yes it still works fine), is that stupid clock screen when I plug the phone in. When it is plugged in, this clock screen I hate shows up all the time. I exit an app, it pops up. I hit the home key, it pops up. I want it gone, even if I have to find a way to uninstall the clock and find a new alarm clock that doesn't do stupid things. I want my "desktop" ONLY at all times. This is soooo annoying, and I'm NOT using a custom ROM... I don't want to.

P.S. The phone is rooted. t-mobile lgp509.
 
Ive had this phone about 3 months now and I love it. It gets annoying when it gets slow, but oh well it's a low-end Android.

Not sure on the clock thing mine always does fine with no problems. I'll have to scan the net and see if I can find anyone else that is having the same problem.
 
Well, I think I got it. I had to "FREEZE" the ******ed drivesmart system. It asked me to "go pro".. I told it to "go blow"... Now I am not bothered by the clock screen and I am no longer stabbing the "home" key until my fingers hurt from anger on that clock screen to get it to finally go back to the normal home screen. I would have to hit it about 30 times (probably because this phone's speed is stone age and was just taking it's time, but I am a VERY impatient person)...and I thought it was supposed to make you less distracted while driving. All I wanted to do was open the GPS, holler my destination at it, and instead almost ran into a ditch yelling at my phone to go back to the (bleeeeeeeeep) home screen. The gps icon I don't even have to look at my phone for. It's right there top left main screen. Memorized like a TV remote...


So...is it possible to REMOVE Drivesmart without messing up the phone? It's a built in system app and it's rather annoying. It's on frozen status now, and not loading, but is it safe to remove it altogether? Everything seems to be working faster without it actually.
 
not sure on the removing it competely or not. I have it on my phone too, but I never use it. Never tried it really to be honest. I just pick up my phone while I'm driving.
 
Try freezing it with your root tools. I noticed a slight speed increase in the phone. I love the phone, including the questionably legal software on it. Now with drivesmart blocked completely, it's running like a boss...
 
I think the phone is great but it's the odd ball app that will destroy the experience. I downloaded a weather app that just made my phone unusable. The minute I got rid of the app all was fine. I do wish it was a little snappier but heck for $100 outright I can't complain.
 
I agree, got mine for $100, not the best phone out there. But at the time $100 was all I could afford. I love it just for that fact! lol

I found that rooting and deleting that "drivesmart" crap made major gains in my battery life.
