Startup Auditor causes multiple problems.

Just wanted to relay my issues that occurred with Startup Auditor. I use a Moto Droid 2.0.1.

First issue: I disabled Google Talk Startup as non of my friends have an Android device. This caused an issue with the Market. none of my apps would download the updates and I could not Download new apps. The Market is somehow connected to Google Talk. After enabling Talk and logging back in my apps started downloading.

Second issue: I disabled the stock messaging app because I am using Handcent SMS. This caused my text messages to delete themselves. When I opened my messaging treads all that was shown was my side of the conversation. After re enabling the stock Messaging app my messages started downloading and showing up in the treads. Handcent must use some of the same things that the stock app uses and Startup Editor was killing.

This is not a jab at Startup Editor. I am just shareing my experiences in hopes to save some fellow Android users some time.

You are closing apps you shouldn't be, this isn't a problem with startup auditor, more with the user!!

For some reason disabling google apps causes lots of problems so leave it alone. Don't disable the stock sms app either. I think that is basically the backend of w
what handles the sms. handcent is just a gui.

I realize that is a user error! I was just trying to help others who may make the same mistake.

If you don't have anything constructive to add, shut up!

Thought you didn't understand why you shouldn't stop those apps. I was trying to be constructive and help out!!

To be fair the thread title makes it sound like you are saying the app causes problems, it kinda sounds like that in the thread too, I just wanted to make sure anyone who reads this doesn't get a bad impression of the app because it really is very useful.

(Be nice!)

I apologize for resurrecting an old thread but I just wanted to clear this up, as so many people seem to be missing the answer here. My next release will make this *very* clear up front from now on:

First of all, Market is extremely shakey in the first place as demonstrated by the numerous "Stuck at start downloading" "Stuck at authorization" threads around the internet, without Startup Auditor even involved.

Secondly, I throw a wrench into it because GTalk, GMail, and Market all use the same underlying process that is killed by Startup Auditor if you kill any one of them. So if you touch GMail or GTalk, you are also touching Market. I get occasional 1 star ratings because of this and it is really frustrating for me, especially because I have no way to respond to them.
