Android Question

Hi,

I have the problem where it seem apps are not allowed to change/update its statusbar icon.
For example, (and this is not the only app) I run BeWeather, and it has an option to change its default statusbar icon to instead display the temperature.
Every time i try to do such changes, with any app that offers it, nothing happens. Same default app icon stays in the statusbar.

Anyone know what might be the cause?

device: Xiaomi Mi Note
android: 6.01

thanks in advance!
Jay

To change anything in the status bar, I am pretty sure you need a rooted device with Xposed framework and the appropriate module. I could be wrong though,

You wouldn't need root for a user app that offers the option to select which icon to use. I'm not sure what the issue could be though. I tested and it works fine on mine....

I am rooted, but the app didn't ask for or require root so it wasn't using any elevated privileges. Nexus 6 btw.
