Are there 2 speakers or just one and the other just a dummy of drilled holes coz no matter what i play the left one has no sound
 
Bottom: Left to right: 3.5mm plug, microphone, microUSB, speaker (which has three holes).
Top: microphone, IR transmitter

Oh maybe it's the microphone then, most microphones usually a single hole isn't? Mine looks just like the speaker, my speaker has like 20+holes, so either side of the usb i have these drilled speaker grills
 
I think they're trying to be like the iphone, which has the mic hidden inside the speaker as well. The Nexus 5, which is built by LG also has this weird feature of 2 speakers holes with only one as a real speaker.

This is correct. There's only one speaker, not two.
 
I'm not a betting man... But the G2 does utilize two microphones, and on the VZW model, it's not behind a second speaker grille on the bottom... the at&t model may be different in this regard.

But there's two microphones.
