Steve Ballmer dismisses Android as financially unsound

Yeah really.

It seems silly to me to question Google's financial plan, especially in public.

..Cuz you know.. obviously Google's in the poor house.. doin' stuff like this must be what got them them there.

Or - maybe google doesn't care how much money they make off this, take away from competitors (at a cost even) could be the goal, and just as or more beneficial.

Who knows. I'm no analyst.

Googles plan isn't to make money off the device sales or use. Its "Plan" is to use the billions it makes from everything else to make YOUR plan unsound.

This is like going to a store thats selling something, but across the street they're giving it away for free.

That and eventualy google will be making millions from the sale of apps. and billions from apps with intigrated google adds. Or did Ballmer not realize this?

Open source has always been a situation of "Nobody could fill the grand canyon with pebbles, its impossible!" But if you get enough people for long enough it adds up.

Just look at Mac, they were never a threat either. ;)

IMO, Ballmer is a tool. A rather unsophisticated one, at that.

In fact, he is the simplest type of tool there is.

Ballmer is a wedge.

Doesn't Ballmer remember Microsoft's own strategy 10-15 years ago with Internet Explorer? Does everyone remember the anti-trust mess that ensued because they forced Netscape out by giving their own browser away?
