Steve Jobs, Person of the Year

At the time that Time magazine gave awards to both Hitler and Stalin they were both alive... and were both doing things to, presumably, help their respective nations. Germany was in a horrible depression in the 1930's with high unemployment. Hitler actually helped improve the nation. It wasn't till later, however, that the world found out some of the things he was actually doing. As much as I hate what Hitler did, I can't hold that against Time magazine. With Stalin is was pretty similar. The world didn't know about the atrocities that Stalin was committing until later.

With respect to Mr. Jobs, I would certainly not support him as Time's man of the year. That said Time Magazine has never sent me a ballot to vote for Man of the year... and likely never will.

Steve Jobs did amazing things through Apple but i don't think he's worthy of being the man of the year, especially this year. I feel like his death was such a shock to many and that's what made such an impact this year.. his work has been continuously changing technology but not anything particular this year. Like someone mentioned, the iPhone 4S isn't that great.

I think the smart ones do until they get us trained. ;) ;) :)

Yup. Every doggy that has owned me trained me well. Herman, a pissy little hellion, would never let up until we went for a walk. Every day around 5:00 or so, he would text me and give me my marching orders.

It's just sad how much hype this guy gets and how Dennis Ritchie's (invented C and UNIX, died one week after Jobs) death got ignored.

Not so sure how important Dennis was. Come on, it is not like he invented the world's only programming language and without it, there would be no apps. There have been literally thousands of programming languages over the decades.

I am not saying Dennis was not important, I am saying that I am not sure he did as much as Mr. Jobs did. But that depends on how you choose to rate someone's performance and contributions. Anyone that builds the world's largest corporation has to be considered somewhat important. Not sure "Man of the Year" important, but Job's contributions must never be ignored or minimized.

Stinky, you need to stop taking this to heart. It does not really matter and it is not disturbing or in any way disgusting; it is not the end of the world. Relax my friend and stop fussing, you will drive yourself crazy. Smiley.

I mean, here you are, so very passionate about Dennis and yet you passionately complain about Jobs and why so many are paying him so much attention.

I think Mr. Jobs is MOTY because he affected so many people in a big way. He was loved and people feel so very sad he is gone. He was responsible for creating billionaires and scads of millionaires and perhaps thousands or tens of thousands of jobs, when you consider stores, manufacturers, programmers, software concerns, etc.

I can see why Time made him MOTY. Not because they truly care but Jobs died, lots of fuss, and Time wants to sell magazines. In other words, business as usual.

How can some one who is already crazy go crazy? :):):)

I am already here!! :D

xD

Hahahahaaa! :D

Yeah you are right... I take things a tiny bit too seriously at times :(

But don't get me wrong... I know Steve Jobs did a lot of awe inspiring things for the world... don't get me wrong and yes I guess I am taking it a little bit too hectically :/

But all I was trying to say is that Dennis who also did really great things for man kind as a whole just gets swept under the rug like as if he was a nobody... that gets me slightly angry...

But you are right... I shouldn't take it to heart ;)

P.S. Bob... you never answer my Private Messages...I hope you don't hate me or something. :(
