Still indecisive! HTC One or S4, for overall convenience?

Depends how you view it. If you think of it as backup rather than storage, and your storage is adequate for your needs, it obviates one argument for sd.

I should add that I say this as a total cloud sceptic. But also as someone who doesn't regard any storage medium (fixed or removable) as bulletproof.

That's good to hear. I'll probably stick with the stock browser because I've heard that the others doesn't support adobe flash. Nonetheless, I'll download a different one if it helps browse faster when going to school-related websites.

Quite the opposite.

If you want Flash, you're best bet is Boat Browser and a side-load of Flash. Instructions how are in both the SGS4 and One forums.

The stock SGS4 was called out in particular for having issues with Flash and I can't remember when I last found the HTC browser at all worthwhile.

And yes, the cloud is on the internet now and that means it's not for everyone.

If you can work with 32 GB, then either phone is for you, visit a shop, hold them, trust your gut feeling and go with that one.

They're both winners and much of it may come down to personal preference.

I had the Evo 3D and it met with a black screen of death. I foolishly did not use a SD card in that phone at the time, thinking I'd add one later... well all of my photos / videos got deleted upon factory reset to try to fix my HTC phone.

None of that applies to the HTC One, that's apples and oranges compadre.

And the only place that an Evo 3D would store videos and pictures would be to the sd card, that's not erased on a factory data reset.

Always go with external storage option if you can... that is a feature that could save you major headaches down the road, and of course back up (which is a lot easier with a SD card as many people have problems connecting Android phones to the PC due to USB issues or some other stuff).

Forget USB mass storage connections with the newer, fully Jellybean-compliant phones.

If MTP connections cause issues, visit the device forum for a solution or consider using a simple solution like AirDroid.

Cheers! :)

Well overall I've decided on the One. If there's some discrepancies or problems that arise, I'll reconsider the S4 (:

Well, sorry I didn't get a chance to take those pictures yet, but for what it's worth, I noticed the One does have a "text" setting under the camera.

That's totally fine! Thank you for your considerations still, but if you're still able to do that, I'd really appreciate them as well :)

And I've never had a phone that has those extra-featured settings, but that "Text" setting would be for taking snapshots of books/pages/whatnot, I presume?

I would guess so. I think what I will do is print off an eye chart on a sheet of paper, tape it on the wall and take pictures of it from various distances, that should give you an indication of what the cameras can do. Keep in mind the S3 camera is probably not as good as the S4

Ah, alright. Thanks once again. And I don't mind; there's barely any huge noticeable disparities between the S3's and S4's picture qualities, despite their difference in megapixels (just my opinion, judging from what I've seen in a bunch of comparisons).

a bit of an OT here, but does the One support OTG cables? (Amazon.com: T & S Electronics Micro USB OTG Cable - LIFETIME WARRANTY! Micro USB OTG to USB Adapter. Samsung Galaxy S4, HTC One, Nexus 7 & Nexus 10 and all other OTG compatible devices: Computers & Accessories)

if so, you can use a flash drive, or a Amazon.com: Kingston G2 USB 2.0 microSDHC Flash Memory Card Reader FCR-MRG2 (Black): Electronics that reads micro SD cards, which would render the internal reader a "nice to have, but not crippling that it's missing" feature.

My HTC One pictures may be obsolete soon as well, in the UK an update rolled out a few days ago that made improvements to a number of things, the camera was included.

Ok, so I took the pictures and put them in the public folder of my dropbox account, they are all named accordingly, no post processing was done to any picture as that's not my strong suit, and ultimately, you will be the one doing that with similar textual pictures. All the photos were taken in "TEXT" "scene" which both the HTC One and the Samsung Galaxy S3 have. If I zoomed in it will be noted on the file name along with the approximate distance away from the pages I was. I used the app camscanner for the PDF file.

Thanks! They look neck and neck :) so the One's camera looks pretty well!

No problem, glad it helped you (or made the decision worse lol), btw, I found this on HTCpro

"Capture white boards, documents, speeches and meetings with cameras and video recorders."

As you can see by the pictures, HTC isn't the only one able to do this, but they advertise it for business use lol.

Oh it helped! Yeah, it sounds like it can greatly help me! I'm just waiting for the phone to arrive; I can not wait to use it! :)

Scanning through this thread, doesn't look like anyone mentioned the neat Zoe feature! It really is a cool feature that does bring your memories to life especially when it so conveniently puts together your shots for the day into a 30sec video clip w/music. I love it.

Cool, you'll love it, come visit us over on the HTC One board!

I DO love it! Just wanna say that I'm glad I got the One. Just to sum it up, I was very satisfied and it left me with no disappointments. Thank you, and also everyone else, for your cooperations!

It really is neat! I've used it a couple of times, but I'm yet to add some effects.

Go with the S4 for sure.

for sure? i don't see anything that would sway it in the s4's favor "for sure".

if anything, with his indoor photo requirements (unless he's taking outdoor classes), it would be in favor of the One's low light camera capabilities.
