Still waiting for upgrades

My GT 4 7.0 is waiting for 5.xx and my GT 2 7.0 is waiting whatever.
- I'm not even draming about 6.xx

Our company is very pissed off with the phones.
- Apple is way too high priced.
- Nobody wants Lumia
- Android upgrades are a PITA
- Jolla is a carta blanco -nobody has had a possibility to test it

If only there was an official upgrade, which fits to every Android phone, we'll buy some 3500 phones.
If there were 7" and 10" Android tablest with certain specs, we could leave iBad out.
- 4GB RAM
- 64 GB Flash (or more)
- SD (functioning, not kastrated like in Android 4.4)
- GPS/GLONAS
- Good camera with 8Mpix and good lens

Nexus are great, but they mentioned they want an SD card slot which nexus doesn't have. Unless that doesn't bug you. Moto x is your next best bet. If you need an SD card slot. Motorola has been pretty good with updates only behind nexus from what I've read. Hope this helps.
Anthony.

No, we do not want any temporary solutions.
We are waiting Google to start delivering a barebones Android version, which can be installed to any tablet and phone. We do not like the bloatware which for example SingSong installs to their devices. They tell us that the phone or tablet has 1.5 GB RAM but in real life you got only abt. 300MB, because there is all this bloatware eats all the memory. And all this eats FLASH also. Of the advertised 8GB there is only 4GB or less for user.

Another thing is that when you have more bytes, there is more possibilities for errors, bugs, holes, backports and handles for viruses.

And we do not want any stupid restrictions in the system like they made in 4.4 to prevent people using SD cards.

As long as Android comes in separated versions for every brand, it is not the primary choice for large organisations like us, wha want to have high security.

I too dislike the restriction of SD card usage in KitKat 4.4. There are fixes for that, but they require rooting.

The only way to get around the fragmentation problem in Android is to use nothing but Google Nexus devices. These use pure Android, free of any bloatware. They also come unlocked, so any carrier that can use unlocked phones can accept them. They're also easier to root than other Android devices, if a user wishes to do so.

There is no "standard" hardware, so no "standard" version.
There is not so big differences in the tablets. Most tablets contain the same brand of processor, so the same binary will run. The installation packet can contain the most obvious USB drivers. With these the installation program running in a PC can scan the tablet and then download the drivers from the network to PC and then install them.

In any case there is only so many factories building chips that it should be possible to collect the drivers from them.

An Android tablet is in any case a lot more simple than a PC and still M$ has managed to deliver the drivers to most PC models.

.

Google has made this deliberately.
When they build there too low FLASH, you can not have your data and maps there, so you got to use their net and cloud. Now they see where you move and the data you have. So they can send you advertisement and sell your data out to the companies.

Remember that Google is a advertisement company and gets their salary from the advertising and data they sell.

Someone named fletch007 reported in Android Central that they received a 901 MB system update from Samsung. It apparently contains Lollipop 5.1.1. fletch007 has it loaded on a LTE Wifi Tab 4. It might be carrier specific, but at least that means us wifi only owners might get something soon... I hope. :thumbsupdroid:

New month and still waiting 5.11 update for GT 4 7.0 Wifi.
Something wrong in Android, if it can not have common updates.
Something wrong, if OEM updates are so hard to build

Still waiting...
There is updates for all other GT4 models, except 7.0 Wifi and 7.0 3G

There really should be a standard packet which fits to every Android tablet.
