Help stock android confusion

I have a sgs2 on a Vodafone contract and am interested installing a stock version of android. I basically mean the version that is pure android, no Vodafone and no Samsung adds. Is this possible? If so how?

I've seen people talking about rooting and kernals etc but would like a step by step guide.

not sure that a "pure" android firmware with no samsung stuff exists, as the firmware has been written specifically to work with a samsung device!

if you flash a firmware from here [ROM+Guide]Official i9100 Firmwares KG, KH1/2/3/4, KI1/2/3/4/8, KJ1/2 Download - xda-developers
it will get rid of the vodafone stuff without needing to root, but obvioulsy not the samsung stuff. but you could then root and freeze all the samsung stuff with titanium app

OR if you install a custom rom such as checkrom revolution, this is as "pure" as you can get with no carrier bloatware and all the samsung stuff removed.

and if you're gonna root, PLEASE use the chainfire method.

Sorry to hi-jack, but i am looking at rooting as well, mainly to debrand and get rid of some of the stock samsung apps.

If i root will i lose all my current APP data??
