Root Stock Apk installation

Heyy guys I'm having a little trouble installing the stock gallery apk I used root explorer and set permission and rebooted and such and still won't show up any help? Thanks guys(:

You need to copy over both the SecGallery.apk and SecGallery.odex files to the /system/app directory and set the permissions like the rest, then reboot.

Also after you have both the files copied to the /system/app, select the SecGallery.apk and try to install it, it may or may not work, just reboot and see if the app is there again.

The only one that got installed was the ID.apk and that's because you provided the .apk file. I think there is something wrong with the .apk files that were provided in the Stock Apk's thread.

Will you do me the favor of uploading the .apk files as well? please!!!

Alright just fyi so others will know, and a thanks again to Slayer72 for providing all the /system/app files!

After I mounted the /system partition as RW and copied over the files, all the apk's with .odex files do not, for some reason, get 're-installed' but after I copied them over and rebooted the phone, it did allow me to (finally) install the new LK7 update.
For some reason the ID.apk (mobile ID from boost) and the APP2UNA (something about Samsung apps) they both got re-installed but none of the others did and they all had .odex files as well.

So for others that rooted, did not back up stock apps and un-installed some of them do this.

If you don't have the paid version of Root Explorer download the Terminal app from the play store >
# su
# mount -o remount,rw -t ext4 /dev/block/mmcblk0p17 /system (this mounts /system as RW instead of RO-read only)

You have to have some better file browser then the built in My Files app to be able to browse to: / then /system/app and copy the files there.

Long press all apps you copied over and set the permissions like the all the others rw-r-r-

then just reboot and install the update.

After installing the update the programs will actually be there again (installed) and you can use them again.. or un-install them again :- )

There ya go.

I highly recommend just "Freezing" stock system apps that you don't want instead of deleting.. you can freeze with the Link2SD app. It is very easy to undo (unfreeze). Don't need to worry about running out of space on the internal SD as with Link2SD you are able to move apps to the external SD.

What type and size of partition did you make? Also the partition needs to be on the end of the FAT partition.. it will not work if in front.

I made a 2GB (2048) Ext2 partition and it worked great. All my apps on the external SD load fast.. I don't see a difference in speed.

I'm not worried about the space on the internal SD, if this phone was like a dual or quad core I would worry but I don't install enough apps to get close to using all the internal SD storage, but I actually bought the Titanium Backup Root app which does like everything. I just didn't back up the apps because I really just wasn't worried about them. I didn't think we would even get another update for this thing. But yeah good advice! lol

I guess it would be good to get some large apps off the internal storage.
The new update seem's pretty snappy though. I wish they just do an official update for JB for this phone. It has plenty of RAM to run it damnit!

Yep.. I want JB too.

Although I'm happy to have ICE.. can't believe how many new phones out there that still come with 2.3

I have a 16 GB MicroSD Card and I made a 1 GB (1024) Ext2 partition with Mini Tool Partition Wizard Home Edition 7.7 on my laptop through the sd card adapter and now it works perfectly, for some reason CWM won't create partitions on our phones at the moment, but Mini Tool Partition Wizard Home Edition 7.7 on my laptop with the MicroSD in an SD Adapter in the card reader did the trick... :p

Well at least I know I'm not the only person having the partition problem with CWM. Wish I had an adapter to partition the SDcard so I can move the big apps over. No way to do it with the SD card still in the phone though the USB?
