stock browser lags/choppy?

novemberwhiskey

Android Enthusiast
is this a common problem, or unique to me?

The stock browser, on almost any webpage, does not scroll smoothly. It lags, and really badly at that where it is almost unusable.

I remember being able to use it fine once, but recently it has been really bad.

Maybe it has something to do with the ROM I flashed? Humble 2.1?

A lot of us have started using other browsers like Dolphin Browser HD because of this. Apparently these issues will be fixed but until then... load your favorite third-party browser.

i currently use the new dolphin 6.0. Xscope USE to be the fastest, but lack of DEV support has made it start to lag behind. I have done recent tests with Rightware and dophin 6.0 was scoring 30-31K, while xscope was only scoring 29-28ish. Miren, skyfire, opera were between 20-25K. For comparison google chrome comp browser tested 160K, higher is better.

The DEV for xscope hasnt released a major update since febuary, and dolphin already has a 6.1 beta out. Currently Dolphin is the smoothest and fastest. I have also done other benchmarks with dolphin coming out at 422, and xscope at 392. IF they ever update Xscope I might switch back, but its dolphin for now due to its speed and smoothness.

I don't like Dolphin on my Charge(or most android phones I use), because it crashes a lot to me.

My browswer(Stock) on the charge performs really well and I have no major complaints about it. A little lag here and there but this is Android so I always expect lag with this OS
so no surprise there.

Opera Mobile 11.1 is what I use. It doesn't use webkit like every other browser other than FF. On every benchmark I run i it scored higher than any other browser I tested. Mainly this is because its not a shell of the stock browser and contain hardware accelerators.

Another good thing is if you use Opera on your PC, you can sync them both together.
