Help Stock Browser not loading pages.

Today my stock browser stopped working. I like the stock browser so I would like to keep using it. I updated wapedia, adobe air and installed the amazon appstore and angry birds rio (amazon), Tecca for Tablets (amazon) and Zombie Booth (amazon) today as far as changes made to the xoom.

After using the amazon appstore for a while, I decided to uninstall it, and started browsing the web browser every page I tried to navigate to hung would hang after loading a quarter of the page, or not respond at all. Other apps and including firefox mobile work fine, no problems with using the internet.

I reset the Xoom several times and even completely cleared and reset the browser to default.

Any ideas

Well I ended up doing a total system wipe. Fixed the problem per caues fectly. The Google restore even loaded all of my market apps for me making the process painless as well. Just have to get my media back on and really configure myhome screen and I should be good to go. My guess is that Tecca. Caused the issue, as I uninstalled that right away because it went nuts when I tried to use it.

Anyone else use the amazon appstore, and had problems or success?

No problems with the amazon app store for me. However my stock browser does this every other day and I have to restart. It is really pissing me off. And it did this long before the amazon appstore came out.

theres discussion the chrome browser (native) may have a memory leak causing issues. i have had issues with the chrome browser just closing on its own...

That would explain some of the behavior I have seen then. Btw I was experiencing this before flash so one of the few times in my life I can't blame this one on adobe. It certainly does seem like a memory leak due to the way it acts.

Also just an fyi I've heard that if you uninstall the Amazon app store none of the apps you downloaded through them will work, they'll instead demand you reinstall the app store before you can use the app

i just opened mines and its happening to me itried loading facebook, twitter and they both stay stuck when i try to login.. even this forum stays stuck when i try to sign in.. any ideas?

First post from my new Xoom.

I'm experiencing what I suspect is the same thing. I use Chrome on my laptop and work PC. Then, I tried out the HC browser on my NC. Fell in love immediately. So, as you can imagine, I was very excited.

While playing around, I've had to restart twice because of the stock browser locking up. I can access the bookmarks and select them. I can even open the browser by clicking on external links in my email or on the FB app. However, no matter how I access it, it remains locked.

Anyway, it works after each reboot and am not sure if I have an app conflicting. I will probably keep playing around with it. In the meantime, anyone have any good recommendations for a good tablet-specific browser (Opera Mobile, Firefox 4, Dolphin HD, etc...)? I use Dolphin HD on my DInc.

That is the exact behavior I have had. Reboot fixes it every time. Killing the browser service through the settings menu doesn't work btw. I like the browser but the locking and having to restart the xoom to use it is really starting to suck. I can't imagine it is an app conflict since it has been doing this for awhile. When I first noticed it I didn't have much installed, just a few things like CNN and accuweather.

as mentioned, there seems to be a possible memory leak in the chrome browser. ive been able to go in and clear cache and that helps.

i also use firefox and skyfire.

I haven't had an issue where it stops working, but I do get a notification every one in a while where it can't or won't load the page and it gives me a "retry" option. Usually it will load fine after I click on retry.

I've had this several times and a reboot fixes it. You can also go to settings > applications > manage applications > browser > clear cache (NOT clear data). This fixes it for me when I have the issue.

All day today my stock browser keeps force closing. No matter what site I'm on, no matter what's running in the background, it keeps force closing. It really pissing me off. Load a page, read about three lines and it closes, I've rebooted, I've yelled at it, now I'm about to throw it through a wall.

Try settings > applications > manage applications > browser > clear cache

If that doesn't work, try settings > applications > manage applications > browser > clear data
NOTE: This will remove all settings/data from your browser, like cookies, bookmarks, saved logins, history, etc. Use as a last resort.
