Help Stock Email Notification Issue

Running 3 gmail accounts via stock email app as IMAP - all mails sync great all ways...However if I receive email and read it on desktop, the mail will showq as read on phopne but the "new mail" notifications on icon and notification bar remain - is there a way to get that to sync as well? thx (if i run the email accounts thru gmail app the notification bar syncs fine)
 
It should do that just fine without an issue. You can always clear it manually, after pulling down the notification centre, press "clear" on top right under the icons.

Or try removing and re-adding your accounts for the problem this exists with.
 
I realize I can clear it manually but want to avoid that. Will delete and re add accounts - it happens for all 3.
