Root [STOCK ROM] AT&T 4.5.91 Gingerbread Flashable Zip

IMO way too much to do just to get GB. With this leaked version which is a beta, the official one shouldn't be too far away. For those of you brave enough to do all this, enjoy!

Great news on my first full day as an Atrix-ite! I, too, will wait for the official release but glad to see my thoughts that it was coming to the Atrix before other phones panning out.

[ATT 4.5.91(DEVS ONLY)] How to install stock 4.5.91 [READ THE WARNING & #2 POST] - xda-developers

It is supposedly THE "final" version that they will push OTA soon. It was super simple to flash. I was stock 1.8.3 and rooted. I was not unlocked or anything else. I downloaded it on my phone, renamed it to update.zip, moved it to the external SD, and flashed it. It was that simple. It took about 15 minutes (except the download took like 30 min). I didnt lose any data, apps, or settings. I have been screwing with it a LOT for the last 24hs or so and have not noticed any bugs. and HOLY CRAP is it FAST!

The fact that I was NOT unlocked and WAS able to flash this meant that it must have been signed with "release keys" by moto in order for it to work (Im certainly no expert, but it makes sence to me). The ony thing i have heard is DONT FLASH IT WITH CWM and DONT FLASH BACK to 1.8.3 if you flash this!

Your phone was in the same condition my phone is. Two questions if you dont mind, 1. Did you download it directly onto your phone or downloaded to computer then moved it to your phone? 2. After you renamed the file and moved it to SD, I'm assuming by flashing you mean you powered off, then on while holding both volume keys to enter that menu. What option did you select?
'Recover'?

Edit: Sorry, I read the link you posted. Sounds easy. Will I still be rooted if I do this? And will this include an unlocked bootloader?

I actually downloaded it straight to the phone and used root exprorer to rename and move it to the SD card. But Im sure it would be just fine if you used your computer to DL it, rename it, and put it on the card. Just remember, if you are using win7 to just name it update, because win7 automatically puts the .zip Also, to enter android recovery you boot up holding the volume down key, then when it says fast boot, use volume up to select android recovery. then select update.zip from SD card and you're off.

You WILL lose root, and you will NOT have an unlocked BL. In order to re-root, follow the link on the OP of that xda thread I linked. If you want to unlock the BL, run the pudding unlocker. So far all I have done is flash 2.3.4 and root. No need to unlock yet until a really good custom rom/kernal comes out IMHO.

I downloaded the file through one of the mirror sites listed, the file downloaded pretty quickly which I thought was weird. I went to the file, renamed it as instructed and moved it to my SD card, main folder. Did all the steps and got said error. :(

I did this yesterday but I have a locked bootloader, so I used other steps but I now have Gingerbread on my Atrix. it runs really good too I used to have email problems and sync and facebook problems its all fixed now

Looks like the first file I downloaded was no good. I used a different link to download the .zip file and it worked like a charm. It was pretty easy to do guys. Took me no longer than 15 minutes. Let me tell you, GB with this new Motoblur is beautiful and fast. I love the animations.

Ok, I just tried this and it said installation failed: e-signature verification failed.

You did the same thing I did probably. I named the file update.zip. Just name it update and it will work.

1. Download file onto micro sd
2. rename file update(it will say update.zip on its own)
3. hold volume down power on.
4. push volume rocker down until you get to update then push up
5. chose file and update.

If I were to do this, would i need an unlocked bootloader to flash through the sd card and how easy will it be to get the official release one when its available OTA?

You do not need to be unlocked. Since this is a Moto signed file, future updates shouldnt be a problem, and if for some reason that happens, i am sure within a few hours, someone will post a flashable SBF of it anyway.

How do I go about doing so while using the down volume rocker and the power button. When I did that, it just said "fast boot" and nothing happened.

when it says fast boot, release the button, then use volume down to scroll thru options till you find android recovery, then use volume up to select it. I think you should probably read the OP on the XDA post i linked.. here it is again for your convienience:

If you are on BONE STOCK 1.8.3 (root is ok IF it wasnt CWM rooted) you can skip the re-flashing of the 1.8.3. If you are running ANYTHING else than that you should reflash 1.8.3.

EDIT: OK, well looks like you got it..lol. Any other problems or snags read the XDA thread, just about every possible issue is discussed there.

Hey I have an unlocked bootloader and when I select recovery mode I get a little android guy and a triangle with an exclamation point in the middle of it. it seems as if it is stuck on that screen. or does it take a long time for the option to try and select the update file.

tap on the bottom left and right of the screen until the ok and cancel shows up then hit ok

You REALLY should read the XDA thread I linked...twice.. but if you havent by now, i guess you wont. Here is the section of that post containing the steps you are currently on. Written by Samcripp, all credit goes to his writting of this. This is an excerpt copy/paisted for those unable to view the origional thread:

4.a Now you can flash the update.
- turn off the phone

- turn the phone back on holding volume down

- once fastboot appears on screen press down on volume and scroll until you see "Android Recovery" as an option

- press up on the volume
4.b The Android Recovery (NOT CWM!)
- in this screen the options are hidden

- to make the options appear press on the right or left at the bottom of the screen (this make take a few tries)

- once you see the options, use the volume rocker to move to the second option
should read something like "apply update.zip from sd card" and press ok on the bottom left side of the screen

- ONCE STARTED, DO NOT INTERRUPT THE PROCESS OR YOU WILL BRICK YOUR PHONE.
5. Once the phone is updated, allow it to reboot, and enjoy 4.5.91 stock!
