Stock text messaging app (weird line)

I recently just noticed that when I am texting and holding a conversation with someone, that sometimes I get a blue bar on the far right. When I type a message that is say 4 lines long, and I hit send, the green arrow shows up showing it's sent but then a blue bar shows up, that slides off to the left. It seems to be where the slide bar would be to show where you are in a conversation, kinda like you would slide it to the top to show the first message, or the bottom to show the last message. Does anyone else have this? It may have been doing it the entire time and I just may not have realized it.
I tried doing a factory reset and it's still there. I know that sometimes the slide is a real light gray you can barely see so I am thinking it turns blue so you can see it.

Any help would be apprecaited.

Does everyone use the stock messaging app or is there something better.

There are a few text apps out there. I use Go SMS. It can be customized quite a bit and I prefer it to the stock text application. Recommend highly.

I tried installing but it doesn't show my contact pictures. I even tried Handcent and that too doesn't show my contact pics. Any fixes for that?
