Stop Annoying Notifications from wap.exclaim.com??

Sorry if this is a repeat, I have tried looking this up and can't find a similar question.

I keep getting notifications - once a day usually now, it puts a white and red star on the top of my phone and if I click on notificaitons and click on it, it goes to a website stating "Snapsecure anti-virus" by wap.exclaim.com

How do I get these to stop?? There is no 'unsbscribe' or anything of that matter. It's so weird?!

Have you downloaded any free apps lately? That sounds like an AirPush ad which pushes ads to your notification bar. I would try uninstalling anything recent (ad supported). Alternately you can go to the review section of the apps in the play store to see if anyone else is having the same issue so you know what to get rid of.

It's probably that some app you have installed uses the ultra-annoying "airpush" add serving system. There are apps that can be used to detect which applications are responsible: "Airpush Detector","Addons Detector" and "Lookout Ad Network Detector" are three that come to mind.

What people normally suggest is using one of these to identify which app is pushing these ads to you, uninstalling that app and giving it a one star hostile review in the Play Store.

It could be aggressive advertising, known as AirPush and similar.

The app which had created that mess might be still on your phone ... recently installed or updated.
To find that culprit app install an AirPush detector like
Lookout Ad Network Detector

Lookout blog, release of Ad Network Detector
... Since last year, we've seen mobile ad networks adopt increasingly aggressive methods of ad delivery. At Lookout, we've been particularly watchful of ad networks that are capable of pushing out-of-app ads to the default Android notification bar, placing generically designed icons on the mobile desktop, and changing browser settings, like bookmarks or homepage ...

AirPush detectors you might use additional ...
AirPush Detector
Addons Detector
