I have gone through whatever threads I can find already on this and still my phone keeps auto connecting and I would really like it to stop. I have a Samsung Galaxy S6. I have turned off all auto connect options I can find. The last option I have that I am hesitant to change is the Network Mode found under Mobile Networks in my settings menu. Apparently if I want LTE I have no choice but to auto connect? And I don't know the difference between WCDMA and GSM in terms of how that effects my service.

To make this clearer... My available options under Network Mode are:

"LTE/WCDMA/GSM (auto connect)"
"WCDMA/GSM (auto connect)"
"WCDMA only"
"GSM only"

The first one is the one that was checked by default. Is this where the main problem lays?

Im not sure what you are trying to do. You refer to wifi in the title of your message yet you refer to mobile data in your thread. If you turn off mobile data you wont get calls, texts or be able to acces the internet. If thats what you want use airplane mode. If you want to stop wifi from autoconnecting, just turn off wifi

I do not wish to turn off the cellular data/connection. Since the new os update, my phone will turn it's Wi-Fi on by itself at random times, like while I'm at work and it's sitting in my bag in my locker. Nothing I'm doing is turning it on, I rarely ever use Wi-Fi on my phone. I have looked through every single auto connect option I can find that relates to the Wi-Fi, turned those features off and still it turns on and connects without me wanting it to. The information I provided above was the absolute last thing I found that had anything to do with auto connection, but none of it seemed like it was related to Wi-Fi, but I figured I'd ask. Obviously it's not, by your post, but I still need information that will stop my Wi-Fi from turning itself on. And no, I'm not just accidentally hitting my wifi button.

Ok, usually after an OS update it's a good idea to carry out a factory reset. THis is a last resort for me due to the hassle. Clearing the cache partition can be helpful so we should try this first:-
Turn off your Samsung Galaxy S6 completely. Then you have to press the following keys to turn on the phone on again:

  • Power On/ Off
  • Volume +
  • Home button
If the Samsung Galaxy S6 vibrates once, release the power on/ off button but keep the other two keys from the key combination pressed until a small menu appears on the screen.

Now mark the entry "Wipe cache partition" with the volume down key. With the power on / off button the entry can be selected and the process gets started. This usually takes only a few seconds. Then the previously displayed menu appears again. Now select the first entry with "Reboot system now" and run the command again with a press of the power button. Your Samsung Galaxy S6 will now reboot.

Let me know if that achieves anything

I stopped Auto WIFI from searching all the time to conserve battery life. Is that what you are trying to do?
