Help Stop data from enabling?

Hi guys, I checked through the other pages of this forum about GS3, but I couldn't find any similar topics

I have a problem, each time I turn the screen on the the mobile data enables itself automatically. As I rather prefer using my Wi-fi, I decided to disable the data option.

Well, anything I tried seems to don't work. On my previous phone, I used to change the APN slightly, so that it couldn't access the internet, but I can't do the same with the galaxy s3, it doesn't allow me to edit my carrier's APN.

What shall I do?

I also tried to disable it through the options accessible by typing *#*#4636#*#* but it doesn't work. Every time I turn the screen on, it enables itself again...

Do you know any trick?

Thanks a lot!

How did you turn it off in the first place? Did you use the toggle widget in the notification bar pull down menu?

Yeah, I used the one you find in the pull-down notification bar. But it doesn't seem to work, or better, it works, but when I lock the screen and later I turn the screen back on, it turns on automatically...

I just downloaded an app called Data On-Off, it seems to work just fine. I set it to block data, and it now if I try to browse the internet, it doesn't let me. The data i disabled I guess.

You mean Samsung took away the power button menu for data connection?

Yea I was gonna say, even my 2.5 year old galaxy portal has this

Long press power button (2or3 seconds if that, and you should get a small menu with four or five options,

Shutdown
Silent
Airplane mode
Reboot
Data networks

Just turn data off that way, should be no reason to need an app

I don't think that turning it off is his problem. He said he turned it off using the drop down notification widget which will do the same thing. His problem is that it is turning back on again.
