Help Stop galaxy S3 from master reset?

Wrong password entered, Samsung security policy erases phone... Pulled battery in time but as soon as I power up wants to begin erasing. Told nothings impossible? How do I stop it?

Remove the sd card at least.

But that's probably all you can do.

Once it's started securely self erasing after X number of failed attempts at unlocking, there really is no way to stop it. Because if you could stop it, so could a thief or other undesirable, and it could be confidential data on there, like Ashley Madison's customer database or something.

That was my problem, no sd card in. Started way back with apps being pushed on phone updates etc. Lot of original pics that cant be replaced were turned into thumbnails, bounced all over with the emulated folders.
