stop google from uploading EVERYTHING.

I've had an S3 for a while now, just got my Nexus 7 (2013) and now it immediately put a shit ton of photos on it from my phone. I dont use "Photos" app, i've always used "Gallery". So, even though I've tried deleting some pictures by going into "Photos" (the google way), it deletes it from my PHONE as well, which is where the pictures were taken.

MY QUESTION IS : how to I just stop everything that google deems "convenient". I just want to be logged into the account because you need this for the phone to work, BUT NOTHING ELSE. No pictures uploaded, no preferences saved, no music, etc. I'm hating all this transparency. I just made a new account for my tablet. How can I DELETE all photos on Google+, but NOT delete them from the device?

Thanks, google, cheers

In settings, go to "accounts" tap "google", tap your email address, uncheck the things you dont want syncd

Just tap the Google account under Setting->Accounts and you can change which things you want/don't want to sync - including Google+ pictures.

Not even the sync, there are 600 photos on google+. when i delete them, it ALSO deletes from my phone. I want my phone stuff to be on my phone, my tablet stuff to be on my tablet, and NOTHING to be on google+.

Turn off sync on the phone before you delete them on Google+ - if sync is off they will not be deleted from the phone.

Turn sync off on both devices and they will stay separate just like you want.

I just deleted google+. Did this remove everything?? When I take pics on a device are they automatically uploaded? Or is this all gone now?

They're uploaded if sync is ON and not otherwise. That's what sync is all about and why you can "micro manage" what you want to sync and what you don't want to sync.

You can turn off sync altogether if you want but it mnakes more sens to just disable the things you want to keep local - like Google+ pictures in your case.

Indeed. With Android the choices are there to be made - unlike some other well-known smartphones I could name.

You don't even have to use Google at all if you don't want to; the ultimate sanction is to not even register a Google account and all aspects of Google sync become moot :-)
