stop group text on Note 2 ATT

I want to turn off my group messaging on my Note 2 on ATT
PLEASE HELP!!!

If you send to a group you get group messaging. If you send to a single number you get a message sent to one person.

Not sure if this is the same issue the original poster had or not but I'm having a problem sending to a "single" contact IF that contact has ever been used in a group text in the past.

For example: I group text cont1, cont2, and cont3. The next time I try to text message cont2 individually everything seems to be working fine until I press "SEND". At that point the message will fail to send and when I look at the "To:" field ... it has added cont1 and cont3 along with cont2.

I've deleted the contact from my system then re-added the mobile number under a different contact name but it still fails. It's like the specific phone number has become permanently linked to the numbers in the other two contacts.

It just occurred to me though, maybe I should try removing all of the "linked" contact numbers at the same time. (In the past I've only deleted and re-added one at at a time.)

I found one post (I think on a different site) about someone experiencing the same issue about a year ago. Their ultimate solution was to wipe their phone and start from scratch. Has anyone here had similar issues???
