Help Stop Kindle screen from dimming

I have an ASUS, Nexus 7, with the Kindle reading app installed. Have used it over the past nine months with no problems, however several days ago the screen dims as soon as I open a book so that I can barely see the print. How do I stop this from happening? I appreciate any help you can provide.

Perhaps check your screen brightness setting and see if it has changed. Do you typically run autobrightness or a fixed value? If auto, try switching to a fixed value that works for you in most ambient light levels. If you have it already set to a fixed value and the brightness is still randomly changing on you, then there's a larger problem. Perhaps an app that is trying to override screen settings or a faulty sensor (hardware issue).

Thank you for a quick response. I have the brightness set as a fixed value, not on automatic. It is set as bright as it will go. I only have the problem with the Kindle Reading App. Otherwise the screen brightness is fine.

Ah ok. Doesn't that app have an additional setting for brightness or am I imagining that? I wonder if it could be tweaked within the app itself?

I just ran into the same problem when I was trying to zoom in, it dimmed the screen for all books I was reading. It is a swiping motion from upper right to lower left that dims it. Swiping from lower left to upper right reverses it had brightens the display.
