Stop Phone from Auto Launching Android Auto

Unforgiven

When I set up my Pixel 3a it asked if I wanted Android Auto to launch when it detected me driving. I said yes and all was good until I realized my 3rd party nav app kept getting wiped out by it. I've disable the app but it still prompts me (and re-enables the app) whenever it detects I'm driving.

I can't seem to find the setting anywhere. Any help is appreciated.

Go into Android auto. Go into settings. Under phone screen settings you'll see auto launch, select it. Once you've made the selection you'll see an option to turn off auto launch. Select it. You're golden, now.

Will do, I would have thought disabling the app would have done the trick, but I guess Google apps play by different rules.
