Help Stop turning my Mibile Data off!

Peanutaxis

Lurker
Huawei Y320 - Android 5.1

I am just SO. SICK. of my mobile data turning off. I have to turn it on two or three times a day. This is 2016, how can it NOT be a simple thing to just have the data STAY *&^%ing ON. I've tried everything. It's on the "performance" setting for battery saving, I've tried removing all sorts of apps.

Has anyone else had this problem? Is there any fix? Or is there any way of logging what the phone is doing to pin down what program is turning the data off?

Extremely pissed off,
Thanks,
p

ummm, the problem is usually the other direction.

I want DATA to be off, and 5.x and 6.x wont' let you do that with a macro or other app, you have to do it manually.

I suggest the phone has a problem, and I would suggest you power it off.
Clear the Cache Partition and reboot. see if that helps out.

Aggressive wifi cellphone handover, plus other goodies. Like AZ said, mostly we see this the other way around. Wifi shouldn't connect to anything without a password.
Can you explain exactly what happens with fewer expletives. I know it's frustrating.

Also, have you tried turning wifi off?

Frankly this sounds like it might be a bug with this version of the Huawei Y320 EMUI firmware. Often it's the other way round, with reports of data turning itself on. If it is a firmware bug, then that's upto Huawei to rectify it with an EMUI OTA update.

EMUI is what Huawei brands its heavily customized, modified and skinned version of Android as.

Huawei does have their own EMUI support forum, but I think it's Chinese only.

Thanks I might try Developer then (You keep mentioning WiFi(?) WiFi stays on and that's what I want. It's Mobile Data that keeps turning off and I don't want it to.)

I want WiFi on always and I want Mobile Data on always as it's annoying having to turn it on when I want to use a browser or the Driving app. (Apps don't seem to ask me to use mobile data - I have to physically drag down settings and turn it on) But Mobile Data is turning off overnight and often during the day, too, I assume after being asleep for a while.

There are settings in the "Settings" section of the "Power Saving" section: "Keep WiFi on during Sleep" and "Keep Mobile Data on during sleep". And it's not keeping the Mobile Data on. (Yes I want Wifi on during sleep because I have APOD updating at 6am)

I always used to remark - 10...15 years ago, with MS Windows and the SS Enterprise in mind, that we are at least a hundred years off having bug-free systems. Unfortunately, my prediction is probably still correct. But them I've never used Apple...

Ok, thank you for explaining. If you have them both on at all times Android will always use WiFi as default. This should not be turning off the data connection though, merely overriding it. This is so when you move out of WiFi range service will not be interrupted.
Either follow Mike's advice or try rooting around in the WiFi settings. I don't own this device or I could help you more.
