Help Stopping auto-complete

Hey -
I just tried to change a setting to get rid of a stored password, and instead, I now have an annoying feature where I start to type a word and any word that begins with that letter appears on the bottom of my screen. As I add letters to the word, it continually updates the word choices. Maybe this is an added benefit to some, but I am a creature of habit and I want it back the way it was. Can anyone tell me what I changed and how to get rid of it?

Menu-settings-language and keyboard-android keyboard.
Then uncheck auto correct

That worked perfectly. Now for my next complaint, it also started underlining each word as I am typing. It doesn't change anything nor does it affect anything and the underline disappears right after I finish the word, but it bugs me
