How much storage do I really need on my smartphone? | Mobile - CNET News
Logical answer for most users.
I happen to have many apps for reference. Astronomy, Birdwatching, Nature, etc.
Each one of these apps has its own database. Some Astronomy apps have other major star catalogs you can download, for example. Audubon Birds and Ibird pro also include bird calls, photos and other information about a bird.
All these DBs take up room. If they can't be moved to SD card, or the size of the external memory is fixed, how do you calculate what you will need?
So far, 16G is about 2/3rds full. There are more birding apps I want, and if I see another guidebook type of app, I'll probably want that. I'm also collecting info from various National Parks, converting to PDF and I want those PDF roadlogs handy.
With newer phones come newer, more capable versions of apps which will probably demand more storage allocations.
How would you decide what you needed in this case?
I know enough to remove books, photos, etc that I can back up on computer. I use MID for ringtones so all the ringtones I have are less than 50K.
