Storage problems! Sgs3

Hey guys i'm new to the forums :). Well I have a problem. When I go to task manager on my phone and then go to storage it says 12 gbs as the total amount on my system but before it used to say 16 gbs cause I have a 16 gb phone. I'm rooted and running stock ROM. Thanks, and here is a pic:

My theory is
16gb partitioned into 3 drives,

11.35 for user
1 ram
2.65 for system

Then of course when drives are formated you lose available space for the mbr etc

16gb formatted = 14.6 usable. (as a single drive) you may lose more with additional partitions (if the 16gb is indeed 3 partitions)

Why? One chip to do it all, saves on pcb real estate and cost effectiveness.

It's not uncommon for Android phones to have anywhere from 6 to 10 storage partitions.

Only two are changeable by you (three if you add a separate sd card) - /data (where your apps go) and /sdcard.

The rest of the storage that's not obvious to you stores your operating system, bootloader and radio firmware.

Ram is completely separate, ram isn't storage.
