Help Storage problems

I have a rooted galaxy grand prime with 8g of internal storage, I used link2sd which works perfectly well but I realised that I have 3g taken but all my installed apps are on my sd card that's partitioned. I've found some useless folders that I deleted but i only took 0.2g off, is there a way to delete all the useless files without loosing all my apps and data.

I wouldn't have thought so. I would imagine the 3GB would be the actual ROM? Deleting any of that could probably turn your phone into a brick.

Well actually no because before I only had 367kb taken then suddenly 3g taken because I can download up to 5g, my phone takes out the system files out.

OK, so we have a near coincidence of numbers: you actually have 5.2GB of usable space (which is close to 8 - 3 GB), and you've used 2.9GB of that. 5 GB /data space for an 8GB device sounds about right, so that would explain why when you said that there were 3GB used we assumed this was probably system space.

So the next question is what those 2.9GB are? They may be app files that haven't been moved, or media, or ...? There's an app called DiskUsage that can help you get an overview of that more easily than a file browser.

Without knowing what they are nobody can suggest an answer.

I looked and it's apps file that haven't been moved and files that where not deleted with there app, how do I transfer the app files with link2sd because I looked and link2sd says everything is linked.

What sort of files are they? Link2SD can move different types of files, but that doesn't mean it can move everything (especially if the app is set up to store a lot of data in /sdcard for example). Are they actually duplicates of stuff that was moved (unlikely), or something else? And if they seem to be duplicates, are they actual files or links (which will have the same name)?

As for files that were left behind when the app was uninstalled, sure, you can just delete those. A file manager will do just fine for that. There's also an app called SD Maid which can help with clearing /sdcard (i.e. the internal storage pretending to be an sd card), but do use it with care, i.e. check what it offers to delete rather than just accepting all suggestions blindly (e.g. there's no point in deleting gallery thumbnails, but it will offer that as an option).

Thanks but I need to pay for the duplicates search and delete but I'm pretty shure that it's updates because I updated street fighter, then I saw that there was street fighter files on the internal and when I deleted and went back to street fighter, it asked me to redownload the update.

Right, so that sounds like game resources which are not amongst the elements that Link2SD knows about and is able to move to the partition. So unfortunately I don't think you can delete that one.

One thought: does Link2SD have an option to forcibly move an app to SD the way Android used to do, as an alternative to moving to the partition? I ask in case doing that might also make it move these data - just guessing, but that's the only thing I can think of.

(Well, when I say "only", you could try moving it to your actual SD card and replacing the folder or file in the internal storage with a link by hand - a terminal emulator and a little knowledge of the linux "ln" command would do for that, and it might work).

I just realised that link2sd was tricking me, on hearthstone I realised that it says move 1.2g but in the end only moves 29kb.

Have you looked at the partition to see how much stuff it has there for the app? 29kB isn't enough to have moved anything at all.

I ask because some ways of counting space used are confused by softlinks: they end up including the size of the linked file rather than just the link. That's why looking at the partition is the safe way to tell. As I've said elsewhere, Titanium Backup can show how much space is being used on the partition (or did when I last used a partitioned card). I expect DiskUsage can explore the partition too, which might be simplest.

29kb was for the obb, when I have to move obb or data, link2sd doesn't always move everything because it already moved 1g of the data on hearthstone so I don't know why it doesn't move evrything.
