Straight Talk Coverage..is it accurate in your area?

After reading a recent post I sent this message to straight talk support via their Faceook page. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced the same problem?

Hello,

I just wanted to let you know that if I enter my zip code under the service area section of your site as a new customer, it suggests only ATT phones. However, when I click on shop phones, It shows Verizon phones as well. The problem is in my area if you go to the actual carriers site and zoom in on the map, Verizon clearly has better coverage for this zip code. Many of my family and friends, myself included, have found this out the hard way. neighboring zip codes have the same problem. The zip codes are 32693, 32626, and 32621.

Thank you

It seems that they are trying to push ATT phones in my area when everyone knows they get spotty reception here. Nothing against ATT, I think competition is a good thing but having a signal is more important!

Honestly I would almost be willing to forgo the better coverage just because with a sim phone you have a hell of a lot more options on good phones. It is difficult to bring a good phone to verizon service and probably impossible to bring one with LTE capability.

Very true, it is how/what you use your phone. I live in Jacksonville so my coverage is perfect and I dont normally leave town but when I do I have just basic voice everywhere I have been so far.

I live in Fanning Springs, about 45 minutes away from Gainesville. Population of around 800 lol. Back when I first signed up with straight talk and got one of their ATT flip phones, I only got one bar in one room of my house and only in certain areas of my yard. While driving there were some dead spots with no signal whatsoever for about 3 miles. I love living in the middle nowhere.

I just got a typical canned response which contradicts their site lol. Here it is:

I know that feeling, before I moved to florida I was in North Dakota, entire state population is under 700k and most are in the bigger towns, I graduated from high school in a town of 350 people, 13 in my graduation class.
Back in ND I did not have a smart phone because there was no use for it. The phone was strictly talk, with a few awkward texts thrown in on the number keypad.

That list is entirely cdma phones, and if im not mistaken mostly verizon right.

Yes they are, and of that list my local Walmart only carries 4 of them. The LG Optimus Dynamic, Samsung Galaxy Centura, Samsung Galaxy Precedent, and The Blackberry curve. The rest are all ATT lol.

I live in a rural area where AT&T and Verizon are the main carriers. Where I live Verizon works, AT&T does not (until they get a tower up). Bought my Straight Talk phone through Walmart. ST wanted a couple of zip codes; where I would use the phone most wasn't registering. So we gave them another local zip. Why? Because they initially sent me a Sprint compatible phone, which did not work initially at my house. Had to send it back for a S-968C version which works on Verizon network. No problems since...
