Help Strange home screen problem

Greetings from Canada! I am so excited to have found a forum where everyone loves android phones. I just recently purchased my first android phone, being the Samsung Captivate. The Rogers Froyo update came about two weeks back but I got it around last week. I didn't have any time to use it. But now that I am using it, I've noticed that my home screen/desktop hasn't changed from the Eclair 2.1 even though I've updated it to 2.2. Any other Rogers people or 2.2 updated phones doing that strange thing haha? I know I could use the Launcherpro or some home switcher to achieve the results but why is it that mine doesn't do it by default? Thanks for reading guys!
 
While i dont know what the official update includes, im pretty sure the launcher is exactly the same as 2.1 and you probably wont see any visual differences
 
that is what vanilla (stock) 2.2 looks like. the 2.2 update you received from your carrier will still have touchwiz launcher and lockscreen. touchwiz was also on 2.1, its why you havent noticed any difference
 
Oh yes. You're right, my bad. But would there be any way to have the stock 2.2 home screen without using an alternative home launcher?

the only way to get the stock launcher, unfortunately, is to install a custom rom. launcher pro and adw.launcher can be made to look pretty stock but neither are really
