Wondering if anyone has had this issue before. I just got this phone a few weeks ago (I'm on Sprint). I started to have an issue where the device wouldn't update (PRL, profile, etc.). I called Sprint Tech Support and they stated that the device needed at least 3 bars in order to do the update. They looked up my location and noted that I was 3 blocks from a cell tower so reception shouldn't be an issue (but I was only getting 1-2 bars). They had me take the phone to a repair center. The repair center hooked up the phone to their diagnostic "machine" and they noted no problems. They went ahead and reprovisioned it and said that should take care of any issues.
The next morning, the phone got stuck in a loop of No Service > 5 bars > 1 bar > 3G data connected > No service. Each loop took 30-45 seconds to complete. I went to the Sprint store (box in hand) to demand a replacement, but was told that I had to go back to the repair center as I was outside of my 14-day return window. Before I left, the rep did a battery reset and the device appeared to operate just fine, but I did go to the repair center anyway. The repair center again noted no problems found by their "machine." They said they looked at the tower usage history on the phone and noted that 2 of the 6 towers I use were down so that meant I was experiencing network problems.
Later that afternoon, I spoke with Customer Care and they advised that there were no network issues so any problems I was having had to be device issues. They sent me back to the repair center. On the way there, the phone got stuck in the same No Service loop again. When I walked into the repair center (for the 3rd time in 2 days) I showed the rep how the phone was behaving. The rep I was talking to went to the tech that looked at the phone and asked if they could just get me a replacement. The tech said it was up to the manager because they couldn't find anything wrong with my phone, despite the fact that it was obviosly not able to get or maintain a signal. The tech said that service in the store sucks (despite the fact that every display phone is getting excellent reception and almost every employee in there is having no reception issues).
Currently, I'm waiting to hear back to see if their manager will authorize a replacement.
Just wondering if anyone can shed any light on this issue. Thank you.
