Help strange text messages

I initially posted a similar thread for this problem a few weeks ago, I got some helpfull advice and found out that a few people out there were having similar problems with their Desire HDs. You can view these threads here -

Thanks to John G he's been a great help.

This new post is just as an update, not a solution im afraid, so here's my progress...

Got a new SIM from Orange, worked fine for about 3 weeks, then the texts started coming again... they are fairly regular now, and Im sure they affect the performance of the phone too. Does it affect others users phone performance? Would be interested to know...

It's your SIM card, the phone thinks that something in your SIM card is a text message.(That was my deduction says anyways).

For mine, it there then my phone becomes laggish, it will disappear and reappear again.

I'm sorry, I did not read the other thread since I'm on my way to a friend's house, if you didn't yet, try this.

Go to Messages > Menu > Settings > Manage SIM card messages. Then I deleted it there. So far, it hasn't come back. Don't know why though.

the sigma @ sign is a bug in orange voice mail service. Orange sends a message in that format to handsets to prompt the handset that it has a voice mail.

I think orange are aware of the problem and trying to fix it. head over to XDA as they have it mention somewhere on there when I read about it a month ago.
