Help Strange wifi issues

Since some days i am able to connect to the wifi at home only in part. No problem with 3G. I can connect to the phones own email app but not hotmail, yahoo or gmail apps. No browser works - msg is you are not connected to proxy server- but whatsapp and viber do. This only since some days. Before that all was well. I was abroad in between and had the phone with me and it worked well there with wifi. Once back it acts funny in parts. Could some settings have changed? I restarted the router at home but it has not made a difference. Any ideas?

Vheck the proxy settings for your wifi connections - they should be set at "none".

Thanks a lot. It works fine now. I am wondering though how such a setting can change on its own.

Well ... define "on its own". Apps can change settings they're not supposed to. Ever hear of a doctor amputating the wrong leg? Bad software isn't that serious, but a bad programmer can reference the wrong variable.
