Help Stratosphere Slow, Buggy, Reboots

I've owned the Stratosphere since it came out in October 2011 and it is, by far, the worst phone I've ever used. I've tried to fix its problems by rooting it and have been through about 3 different ROMs (I am currently on Tweaked 2.1).

The phone is amazingly slow, sometimes taking 4 or 5 taps or swipes to register input and sometimes registering input 5 or 10 seconds after I tap something. It also sometimes freezes altogether and I have to pull the battery. And it can't be trusted as it reboots itself randomly during calls. I'd like nothing better than to take a hammer to this piece of garbage and smash it to pieces, but I am not eligible for an upgrade for another year or so.

Any suggestions for how I can get this piece of junk to at least work a little better?

If you are already on a custom ROM and kernel, try a different one. Tweaked 2.2 with either _bag_'s kernel or KC's TweakStock kernel are usually quite good when people have issues with lag in rhcp's kernel. There is also Ti-X ROM, TweakStock ROM, and a good old deodexed, rooted stock ROM. Remember to wipe data whenever you flash a new ROM. If you are still having problems, consider returning to stock and RMA for a new one.

All of these are available in on the RootzWiki Stratosphere forum.

If you are stock/unrooted, then try a factory default, if the problems still persist consider getting a replacement from Verizon
