Help [Streaming issue] Podcast player problems

tuz

Newbie
I have been having a problem for a while with the excellent app PocketCasts, where I'll be listening to a podcast

hi,

we need more info to help diagnose.

are you rooted?

do you have a US or UK (or other?) version?

is this a refurbed handset or brand new?

has this issue always happened with the app(s) in question or did it start recently well after the app(s) was/were installed?

any other issues with streaming?

does this happen on wifi as well as cellular connections?

can you play youtube vids (streaming) from the youtube app without any buffering or closing issues?

Thanks Marc,

HTC EVO 3D, US, Sprint, not rooted. New -- although actually it was a replacement unit sent by the company Sprint uses for insurance replacements, I don't remember their name. So it could possibly have been refurbished or something.

I believe the issue started quite soon after installing each app, though not immediately. Maybe within a week. But it's been a while since I started using pocket casts.

The issue has occurred both on wifi and 3G (and 4G) connections.

I don't stream anything else often enough to recall problems. Youtube generally works but I use it very seldom.

Thanks!

well it sounds like its app related based on your initial response.

also if you have access to your MSL, smoke over this thread:

http://androidforums.com/htc-evo-3d/361521-streaming-media-tyrrany-sprint-proxies.html

it shows how to bypass sprints own proxy servers. these could cause streaming issues if they are used with apps that also have servers to buffer data.

after users tried this, they noticed improvements, myself included.
