Streaming issue using two phones with JB Bluetooth

While at work, I have two phones connected with Bluetooth, but only the first paired phone allows BT streaming. A radio or music stream through the second paired phone just goes through that phone's speaker. So, if I want to stream a radio program or music from the 2nd phone, I have to turn off the BT to both, and turn on the BT for that 2nd phone first, then it will stream the radio program or music through the BT, but now the 1st phone will not stream radio or music through the BT.

*Note* There are no issues receiving phone calls with the two paired phones. Regardless of which phone is linked with BT first, the second phone also successfully sends calls to the BT.

I assumed that the Jawbone ERA could receive radio streams and music from either phone that is paired to it, and not just the "first" paired phone for that day.

So, I do not know if this is a JB ERA issue, or a Jellybean 4.1.2 issue, or an issue with Apple or Huawei.

One phone is an Apple 5c and the other phone is an Huawei Vitria.

Too many unknowns to be sure, but I can't see any evidence to suggest it's a problem with the phone itself.

I have used BT devices that only connect to one sender at a time, forcing you to re-pair if you switch to another. Equally I've used devices that remember a whole list of previously paired devices and automatically connect to the first one it detects.

I've never personally used any of the devices you mention so it's hard to say, but if the two completely different phones are behaving the same it seems to me that the problem probably lies in the playback device rather than either phone.

Yes, previously, I had the same issue using the Jawbone ERA with an Apple LG Motion 4G and an I-Phone 4S, where the first linking of the day to one phone, would not allow the second linked phone of the day to stream music or radio.

But, part of the reason for submitting this thread is too see how many others, if any, have had the similar problem. Most users post to report issues with their car's BT. I don't have BT in my car, but I do use two phones simultaneously at work.

Sounds like you more or less confirmed it yourself :-)

Although it's all "audio" the music is not necessarily streamed to the same BT logical device/connection as the phone calls. BT allows multiple simultaneous master/slave connections in which either end can be master, so it's entirely possible that the Jawbone is master in one connection (music) and slave in the other (phone) - and crucially only the master determines which slave to address.

The BT spec is quite vague in places allowing manufacturers a lot of leeway in how they achieve their goal, leading to all sorts of strange anomalies like yours. The master-slave relationship is negotiated rather than being defined in the spec so it's possible that the intention in the case of the Jawbone was to allow control of the music player rather than just accept steamed audio from it, but this is just a guess.

PS: I'm no BT expert, take everything you read with a pinch of salt :-)
