Streaming video over home network

I suggest BubbleUPnP. I've never had any problems. You will probably need to download another video player too. I use VPlayer or something like MX Player should work too. ES File Explorer froze up on me too much, but that just might be me.

I've been round and round with this issue (Win7 + Acer A501), tried all sorts of streaming solutions without much success. However, here is a solution that works simply, seamlessly, and is a breeze to set up.

- MX Video Player with the right codec pack for your processor
- ES File Explorer (which is an all round must have anyway)

On your computer enable sharing of whatever you want. Add your computer to ES's LAN list. Browse. Play. Set MX as the default player.

Brilliantly simple, and it just works.

Cheers.

Awesome. This worked perfectly. Thanks :)

Hey guys,

i've done a bit of searching but haven't really turned up much..

Basically I just want to know if there's any apps available that will allow me to watch video files on my Desire over my home WiFi network.

Thanks in advance for any info.

Cheers.

Hello there is an ap that allows you to sream im using the Rpad Tablet with Android os version 2.2 there first of all is the Es file explorer I fint this to be handy for locating network folders or shares and the good news is it does play network media depending on the format of the media and the internal media players your using.I find it plays all of the mobile phone media such as Mp4 and my favorite xvid that seems toplay on almost any mobile device. But the bad news is that the file explorer (apk) does not stream media it downlads it to the device before playing the media. Now heres where itgets even better.I found a player that truely is a streaming media player and it works perfectly with a desktop orlaptop that you want to share media with and the best part of this player is that it streams in both directions to the mobile device from the desktop or visa-vera.This player is called the VLC direct pro also downloadable in (apk) installer package for the android os ormaybe other os's im not sure bc I have not tried others but heres the catch with this player it works in conjunction with the regular VLC player. You run the VLC on the desktop or laptop and the VLC direct pro on the prtable device the direction explain in the pro version how to stream locally or netwoked in both direction and what I found neat about this one is that I couldplay media from the tablet on my destop or media from my desktop on the tablet. And since this player is an all in one as far as playable formats it plays everything even netwokred dvd.I hope you found this to be helpful as well as insightful and allof the programs can be downloaded by doing a search under their names or going to android market.

I use Emit. I have the Emit server installed on my Mac, and designate which directories I want to share. It is set to run on login.

Install Emit on your Android device from the market, and launch it. You have a number of choices as to how to configure the app depending on its power. The app itself is very cheap. You can browse the movie directories from your phone, and select which movie you want to play. It is so easy to set up and use. Seems to play all kinds of formats.

I use Gmote and Gmote server on the PC, works great. Tell the server which folders to use on the PC and the phone will remote access them and play on the phone ;)
