Root struggling to boot into recovery??

davo26

on ARHD with 4ext. hold volume down, press power, but it just boots up normally.

i seem to remember before if i pressed to power down, the option to boot into recovery was under the restart tab, but that option doesnt seem to be there either.

am i doing something daft??

thanks

Not sure... did you disable Fast Boot?

Check under Settings ---> Power ---> Uncheck Fast Boot (that is where it is on my current ROM). Than try volume down and power again.

its disabled, but i just ticked it, then unticked it again, and now its working. strange :-/

thanks. gonna try cm7.2.0 i reckon :-)

I have seen that kind of behavior before. As long as everything is sorted.

yup, sorted, cm7 loaded, realised i cant import my contacts from gmail as it doesnt seem to have gmail, realised i didnt have the patience to find and instal gapps or whatever it is i need, wiped again and now reinstalling nandroid :-)

should i have given it longer? :-D

You can install gapps even after you have installed and booted the ROM. But CM7.2 is getting a bit long in the tooth if you ask me.

Ice Cold Sandwich is stable, offers a Cyanogenmod like experience and already includes gapps. I would have a look at that instead.

i had a look at that and do like the look, but i think it said the video camera wasnt working? thats pretty much a must for me. or is everything fixed now?

thanks

Yup pretty much. Best ask D-U-R-X or scotty85, but the 720p issue was fixed more than a month ago and I think the only problem you are likely to encounter is that the headset buttons don't work.

ah right, that sounds good. ill stick another thread up asking specifically. btw, is battery life ok on it you reckon? compared to ARHD?

thanks

Battery life is a bit shorter, but I did not tweak Ice Cold Sandwich. ARHD is pre-tweaked pretty well.

DHD Default = 1024 MHz @ 1200 vdd
ARHD = 1152 MHz @ 1075 vdd

DHD Default = Ondemand governor (245-1024 MHz)
ARHD = Wake governor ondemand (245-1024 MHz) / Sleep governor (245-384 MHz)

at moment ICS seems to be max 1075, min 230, governor ondemand. is that the best i can get for it?

thanks

Sorry, never stayed on it long enough to tweak it. Might try running the smartassV2 governor instead. This should save some battery while on sleep mode.
