Root Struggling to downgrade phone back to stock

Nex0

Lurker
Hi I hope someone here can help me as im really struggling now.

My friends phone which from what I understand was locked to T-Mobile in the UK although im afraid I do not know what version of Android it was running and someone has unlocked it for all networks, unlocked the bootloader with htcdev and upgraded it to CyanogenMod 11 / Android Version 4.4.2

My friend has now decided that hes not enjoying the update and would like to return to the stock firmware.

Try as I might and despite reading various ways and trying different files from all over the internet I simply cant seem to downgrade it.

Can someone please point me in the right direction of the correct PD98IMG file I need to flash as all the ones I have tried so far have failed or a guide explaining exactly what I need to do.

I'm sorry if I have skipped over a thread explaining exactly what I need but I have been on and off with this for a few days now and I think I have managed to get in a muddle with all the different threads I have read with different suggestions.

Hopefully the information provided below will help and thanks in advance.

If your friend is tired of cm11,all he really needs to do is restore a stock backup,or flash a stock rom.

Did he make a stock backup? If not,I'd suggest flashing a custom rom called ARHD,it is stock with some tweaks,I think he will enjoy it :)

As far as I know, he should be fine to run a RUU, which scotty usually links to from ShippedROMs.

Looking at the CID Number, I think any unbranded RUU will be fine, but I'd wait for scotyy to give the go-ahead for doing anything first.

Thanks for the reply.

Originally that was what I was trying to do as I had already downloaded the following rom from that site but it wouldnt detect the phone and extracting the rom and manually putting it on the sd card worked as far as it being detected and starting to be installed but it wouldn't allow it as it detected it as a downgrade.

RUU_Ace_Sense30_S_HTC_WWE_3.12.405.1_Radio_12.65.60.29_26.14.04.28_M_release_225512_signed

So using scotty85's recommendation of ARHD I downloaded and flashed with the clockwork recovery Android_Revolution_HD-4G_9.2.

For whatever reason now when I tried to run the stock RUU it now detected the phone but it got stuck at sending.

I therefore extracted the rom again and flashed it from the sdcard this time being successful.

Perhaps not the right way or the easiest way to do it but its worked.

Thanks again for the help.
