Help Stubborn ID Pops Up.

Hi. I rooted my phone recently using iroot App. The disappointing thing now is whenever I turn on my mobile internet. An advertisement pops up and fill the whole screen. It's an animated advertisement about Whatapp. The close button on the ID doesn't work and it's furthest the corner.
Please help to get rid of this pop up advertisement.

OK, a Chinese rooting tool, there's many of them around. Thing is you have to very careful with these things, sounds like it's "free" because they're monetizing it with ads. You'll probably have to re-flash the firmware for your phone now, that's if they haven't provided any way or removing it completely.

What phone have you got, make, model and Android version? Because now it could be easy to restore, or it's permanently ruined, e.g. there's no manufacturer's ROM or custom ROM available.

From the iroot EULA:

"The Software also allows you to provide feedback to iRoot and provides you with tools to enhance your user experience when using the Software."
....yeh, that probably means ads.
"Governing Law and Jurisdiction: The Courts of Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province, People's Republic of China."

mikedt,

I have Tecno M3, Android version 4.2.2. I now agree from a look at the iroot App it's Chinese. I really need to get rid of this ID that shows up. Can factory reset of the handset clear up this?

I would highly doubt that a factory reset would get rid of that ad.
You could try it seeing as you have nothing to lose unless you've added some user files/photos etc (which will get wiped in a factory reset).

However, as @mikedt stated, you may have to reflash the firmware.

I don't know much about that device, so I did a little searching for the stock firmware and a few sites pop up.
I also know nothing about the sites that offer the firmware, nor the process of how to flash it.

If I get a little more time later, I can do some deeper digging as far as how to flash your firmware :)

You might also get Malwarebytes from the play store, run it and see if anything shows up as a potential unwanted program (PUP). Malwarebytes may be able to uninstall it for you. If Iroot installs its own Superuser you may want to replace it with something else, SuperSu.
