Help Stuck APKs

I recently uninstalled Adobe Reader and ESPNradio. The apps still show up in the downloaded section of apps that are installed. Any way to remove them?

I read in some posts in other places that going to /data/local would help me in removing them. My Tab 4 isn't rooted, so that wouldn't work for me. I've tried clearing the cache through SD Maid, and stock recovery. Neither method works. Would clearing Google Play cache help me?

TIA

OK just figured out something, folks! I uninstalled Flash Player, and it ended up like the other two apps, with the APK sitting in memory once uninstalled. I then reinstalled that as I use Flash with Dolphin Browser. This may be a bug with the latest Tab 4 update. The kernel from that update is dated Mon., Nov. 24. I'll have to write an e-mail to Samsung support about this. Anyone that has the latest update installed for the Tab 4, take note.

I didn't have any problem with uninstalling, then reinstalling Republique from the Play Store, though. Odd.

I updated my dad's Tab 4 a few weeks ago and Comcast Sports and the Kindle App acted strangely. In fact, he says the Kindle message can't be cancelled, "Unfortunately Amazon Kindle has Stopped". I plan on uninstalling both the next time I over there.

That's strange! One should only get that message if the Amazon account is closed. :/ Never got that at any time with my kindle app.

Google turned up lots of similar complaints/reports after an Android update. Thing is, before I could look at it and remind myself how I had set up the tablet and accounts, my impatient dad had my brother look at it and I guess he did the same thing I would have and just uninstalled it.

Had to email Samsung again. Looks like they couldn't be bothered to look at the original, direct from Tab 4 PNG screen shots I sent them. Resent as JPGs. Explained the problem to them again in more detail. Because of this problem, I don't want to install anything else until this is resolved. I'm beginning to think I may have to backup my apps via Mybackup, encrypt the Tab 4, then factory reset just to get rid of the stuck APKs. UGH! Samsung better figure out a fix for this.

Yes. Same problem. :( APKs still stuck in memory when uninstalled.

Lots of negative reviews for this app on Google Play. Maybe try calling their CS:
"Please call Customer Care at 1-888-549-3776 (ESPN) between 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 a.m. EST and we will be able to troubleshoot this further and try to find a resolution for you."

Thanks, but it's not the ESPNradio app I'm having a problem with. This is the response I got from Samsung support:

Thank you for contacting Samsung. After reviewing your e-mail, I understand that you have un-installed apps but able to see the apps in apps section. I have checked the attachments, please try performing hard reset to isolate software issues with the device and check whether same issue persists. Performing a hard reset will clear the tablet's memory and put the device back to the original factory default state. Factory data reset is a tool used to remove everything that was imported, added or installed on the device. To back up the data on the device, please refer the below web link.

http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber...&modelname=SM-T230NU&modelcode=SM-T230NYKUBNN

To perform hard reset, follow the below steps.

1.Power the Tab off.
2.Press and hold Volume Up, Home button and Power buttons.
3.The Android system recovery menu appears.
4.Press the Volume Up or Down button to select "wipe data/factory reset", and then press the Power button to make your selection.
5.Press the Volume Up or Down button to select "Yes – delete all user data", and then press the Power button to make your selection.
6.When the reset is complete, press the volume Up or Down button to select "reboot system now", and then press the Power button to make your selection.

I knew it was going to come to this. Right now I'm performing a backup with a Windows/Linux app called Holo Backup. I'm using it in Windows. It can be downloaded here:

http://omegavesko.github.io/SimpleADBBackup/

It requires USB debugging to be turned on, and a backup password to be created on the Tab 4. If you have a virus scanner running in the background, it should be temporarily disabled while using Holo Backup. Also, be careful if you use the 'Backup All with system apps' option, as it's marked unsafe.

I've seen those instructions before but I hope I never have to resort to that. Don't think I could manage it. Good luck, I hope it works. How is that different from doing the Factory Reset from the Settings menu?

Figured it out. Didn't mention this before, but I had Guest mode temporarily turned on. I switched that off, rebooted, and was finally able to uninstall the APKs of the apps. Should have tried that before! At least I don't have to factory reset. :D
