so i tried to do a factory reset but it was taking really long so i thought, heck maybe if i take the battery out and then back in it'll stop...but now everytime i put the battery back in the phone it goes to the screen with white box, android guy standing right next to it, and an arrow coming out of the box and it says:

ClockworkMod Recovery v2.5.1.8
Formatting DATA...
Formatting CACHE...

and stays there forever

Yes I am talking about the ascend

I would fastboot a new recovery on to it.The only thing you can use 2.5.1.8 to flash is Icarus I believe. If you are planning on flashing CM7 perhaps you need CWR 3.0.0.5, 3.0.2.4, 3.0.2.8 or the new 5.0.2.3 I can hook you up with the fastboot file with the recovery of your choice if you want.

i try to go into fastboot mode but it goes back to that same formatting screen.

Yeah you can

Code: [Select]
su
Code: [Select]
cd sdcard
Code: [Select]
flash_image recovery recovery.img

Note: be sure to rename the dl to recovery.img using the fastboot zip or using the cmd's I posted, or make sure to type the name out

Heres all the recoveries except 3.0.0.5 because I dont have that one but you can find it on PG's wiki

30.2.4- 3.0.2.4 recovery.img

3.0.2.8- 3.0.2.8 recovery.img

5.0.2.3- recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.3-ascend.img

Also here the fast boot file. Thing is I cant remember if it has the 3.0.0.5 or the 5.0.2.3 recovery in it. But either way youre good to go: CWM Recovery.zip Just extract it, fastboot your phone ( Volume Down + End + Power) and connect it to the comp and follow this:
5)Run the script relevant to your OS from the CWM Recovery folder that you extracted earlier

A) For Linux users -Run the "******-linux.sh"
B ) For MAC users - Run the "******-mac.sh"
C) For Windows users - Run the "*****-windows.bat"

6) When you run the appropriate script, you will see a command prompt window open and disappear. When the window disappears, CWM is installed.

7) You will not be able to power off your phone, so take the battery out of your phone for 10 seconds and replace.

Oh and 3.0.2.8 adn the 5.0.2.3 back up your ext if your sd card is partitoned
