Help Stuck at Samsung logo display - Failed to mount/ cache (Block device required)

Hi everyone,

I woke up to my phone displaying an unfamiliar display screen. Unfortunately I can't remember how that looked like but it was just not the usual display screen one would see. My phone was being charged via a USB cable. I don't recall installing anything recently.

I tried to start the phone up again but it just freezes at the black screen showing the Samsung logo. I removed the battery and inserted it again and the same thing happened. Thought it could be a problem with the battery and bought a new one to try. It didn't work.

I went into the Android Recovery system and cleared my cache after checking the forums here. Rebooted the system but it still didn't work. I attached a picture of the screen I am looking at right now.

Am I left only with the option of "wiping data/factory reset"?

Or is there something else I can try?

Thanks. Really hoping someone can help me here.

Goodness me Mooshu, that has happened to my Friend's phone and I posted a question about it in the general forum section. I hope someone can assist us with this problem.

Bad news guys. I have Verizon. All of my apps are set for manual update. So no updates happen unless I let them. On Sunday night an update came through that rebooted the phone and I saw the little green guy. It rebooted several times. All day Monday it kept rebooting. Had issues with messenger ending and touchwiz ending. Verizon says no update to Android but my phone did the same thing. Black screen Samsung logo and doesn't boot. In last two days leading up to this had to remove the battery 40 plus times as it kept freezing up. Phone never froze before this.
Wiped data and ran factory reset phone is still stuck at Samsung.
